Mount seniors honored after Manchester game

Mount seniors honored after Manchester game

Location: Schueler Field (Cincinnati, OH)

The Basics:

Manchester stole the lead early with a goal in the 38th minute and took that into the half. In the second half, Manchester was able to find the net again, bringing the final score to 2-0. The Lions seniors were honored after the game with friends and family by their side, as they walked onto the field.

How it Happened:

The Mount was creating chances with two corners and six shots on goal for the first half. The Spartans were able to find the back of the net in the 38th minute. Senior defender Michael Huber (New Richmond, OH / New Richmond) played well with slide tackles stopping crucial runs by the Spartans. Early in the second half, the Spartans were granted a penalty kick, and scored on it, bringing the score to 2-0. Lion Nathan Mueller (Trenton, Ohio / Edgewood) had a near miss header in the 59th minute that was just outside of the left post, resulting in a final score of 2-0. Seth Freppon (Cold Spring, KY / Newport Central Catholic) recorded a yellow card in the 82nd minute and Nathan Schmeusser (West Harrison, Indiana / East Central) in the 89th minute.

After the game, the Mount honored their six seniors. Cody Hacker (Cleves, OH/Harrison), Alex Gross (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), Joseph Glisson (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson), Michael Huber (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond), Connor Spivey (Florence, KY/Dixie Heights), Will Schwing (Greendale, IN/Lawrenceburg) were commemorated at midfield with their families as they looked back on their years here at Mount St. Joseph University.

The seniors all deserve recognition for their hard work here at the Mount but senior Michael Huber played a great game defensively. Stealing passes and slide tackles that changed possession, giving the Mount more opportunities. Not only through his play, but his hustle was admirable and gave the team energy and momentum.  Thank you to all the seniors and what you've done for the program.
