Lions fall to ORLC competitor

Location: SVC Turf (Latrobe, PA)

The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph continued their conference schedule by traveling to face St. Vincent.  The Lions fell to an early deficit after the first period.  The Mount fought hard to get back in the game in the second half as multiple players were able to get to the net.  Ultimately, the lead was too much for the Lions and St. Vincent was able to come out with the win with a final of 20-6.

How it Happened:

The game started off slow for the Lions.  They fell to a 3-0 deficit after St. Vincent was able to produce some offense in the first period.  Jesse Purdy (Lexington, KY/ Dunbar) was able to get a goal on the board for the Lions in the second quarter, but the Lions still trailed St. Vincent at the half 7-1.  In the second half the Lions were able to get the offense going with goals from Seth Poirier (Somerville, OH/ Talawanda), Noah Borgdorf (Bellevue, MI/ Bellevue), and Sean Burke (Covington, KY/ Covington Catholic).  St. Vincent was able to answer with multiple goals of their own to maintain their lead.  The deficit would prove to be too large for the Lions as they fell to St. Vincent with a final score of 20-6

Standouts:

Purdy had an outstanding performance as he was able to score the first goal for the Lions.  He was also able set up his teammates on the offensive end to finish the game with 3 assists.  Burke and Poirier also had a good showing as they were able to score 2 goals each in the ORLC matchup.

Up Next:
