Lions finish their season against Hanover

Location: Hanover, Ind. (Alumni Stadium) 

The Basics:

The Lions were challenged by the Panthers the entire game.  Hanover was able to take the lead in the first quarter and never gave it up.  Mount St. Joseph was down 9-4 at halftime.  The Lions couldn't stop the offense of the Panthers in the second half and lost to Hanover with a final score of 16-9.

How it Happened:

Hanover struck first in the first quarter.  They scored 3 goals in the first 3 minutes of the game to take the lead over the Lions.  Kevin McClanahan (Madeira, OH) started of the scoring for the Lions after an assist by Jesse Purdy (Lexington, KY).  The Lions finished the first quarter down 6-3.  In the second quarter the Lions continued to struggle to control the Panthers offense.  Anothony Behler (Cincinnati, OH/ Elder) was able to get to the net off of an assist from Seth Poirier (Somerville, OH) with under a minute left in the half.  The Lions ended the half with a score of 9-4.  In the second half the Lions tried to fight to get back in the game.  John Ewing (LaPorte, IN/ LaPorte) was able to score twice for the Lions in the third quarter.  The Panthers offense still was able to control the game scoring 5 more goals to increase their lead at the end of the third quarter 14-7.  The Lions weren't able to produce enough scoring in the fourth quarter to come back and lost to the Panthers with a final score of 16-9.
