McCarthy leads men's golf with an even par finish

SANDUSKY, Ohio -- The Mount St. Joseph men's golf team traveled to Sandusky, Ohio to take part in the Battle at the Brook hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. In a tournament where the Lions were forced to play through constant rain they played much better golf than the week prior.

In round 1 on Saturday the Lions poured in a team score of 312, to find themselves in sixth place after the first round of play. Due to inclement weather Sunday's round was predetermined to be only 9 holes. Over those 9 holes the Lions registered the second lowest team score at 148. For the weekend the Lions finished tied for fifth place with a 460 (+32).

Leading the team again was Ethan McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) who finished in third place with an even par 107. Josh Kruzel (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) was the Lions second highest finisher, coming in at number 17 with a 9-over par 116.

The Lions will head back to the course on Saturday, September 22 as they head to Alliance, Ohio for the Tannenhauf Fall Invitational.
