The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph men's basketball team opened up Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play 1-0 with a 75-60 win over Manchester. The Lions  jumped out to a quick lead and never trailed in the game, led by another impressive offensive game by Andrew Finley (Cincinnati, OH/Walnut Hills)

How it Happened:

The action was back and forth through the first 4:19 of play as the teams traded baskets, with neither team able to gain the upper hand. The Lions then went on a 21-6 run to extend their lead to 14 at 28-14 with 8:01 to go in the first half. The Spartans would close the half on a 17-8 run of their own to cut the halftime lead to 6.

The second half of the game would belong to the the Lions senior guard, Finley who scored 20 of his game high 29 in the second 20 minutes. Finley did so while being extremely efficient going 8 of 11 from the field and 3-4 from behind the arc. With the Spartans attempting to get back in the game early in the second half he scored 13 of the Lions first 17 points to stretch the lead for good.

Standouts:

Finley scored 29 points for the second time this season in the win. Joining him in double figures was Erik Edwards (Cincinnati, OH/Roger Bacon) and Conner Myslowski (Dayton, OH/West Carrolton) who scored 13 and 12 respectively.
