HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions got off to a slow start as they were unable to score for the first almost 3 minutes of the game. The Lions got a huge effort from sophomore Erik Edwards, as he scored 12 of the teams first 17 points. Helping to lead the Lions to 9-point lead at the half at 34-25.
The second half saw the Lions maintain a relatively comfortable lead most of the way. The Grizzlies were able to cut the lead to 6 on multiple occasions. The Lions though were able to get a bucket to keep Franklin from getting any closer. After not shooting the ball well from the free throw line much of the game, the Lions were able to make them count down the stretch to seal the victory. The final margin of 13 was not truly indicative of how close the score was, the final tally saw the Lions get a 74-61 win.
A career-high 29 points from Edwards paced the Lions offensively. He was an outstanding 13 of 16 from the field on the day, and added 6 offensive rebounds. Travis Combs added 17 points, and 4 rebounds to go along with 3 steals.
The Lions will travel on Wednesday to Hanover (14-13, 10-8 HCAC). The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
