Despite a balanced scoring attack the Mount St. Joseph men's basketball team (11-6, 8-2 HCAC) could not hold home court in a conference matchup against Defiance College (10-7, 8-2 HCAC), falling 71-67. Both teams are now 8-2 in HCAC play. The Mount defeated Defiance on the road earlier in the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mount knocked down four three-pointers in the first half including two by Andrew Finley. Defiance held the game close by hitting 9 of 11 free throws in the first half while MSJ went 3-for-4. The Mount led at halftime 31-30.
Defiance broke the game open in the second half, hitting 7 three-pointers while MSJ managed five. Defiance held a 21 to 11 rebounding edge in the second half. For the game Defiance scored 34 points in the paint to the Mount's 26. The Mount only turned the ball over 5 times.
The Lions take on Bluffton (9-8, 4-6 HCAC) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Harrington Center.
