HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half of game was tightly contested as both team shot the ball well early. The Grizzlies of Franklin shot and outstanding 64 percent in the first half, campared to 50 percent for the Lions. Offensively Andrew Finley carried the load for the Lions in the first half with 8 points on 3-4 shooting, 2-3 from deep. His performance helped the Mount to overcome the hot shooting of the Grizzlies to lead at the half by a score of 36-35.
The score remained close throughout the early going in the second half as the teams traded baskets. With the game knotted at 46 at the 14:43 mark, the Lions turned up the defensive pressure which enabled them to go on 9-0 run over the next 4 minutes. The Grizzlies climbed back into the game with a short 5-0 burst. The burst cut the lead to 5 points but from then on the Lions dominated the action.
The Lions will host the Panthers of Hanover College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
