CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Mount St. Joseph University baseball team helped to kick-off the holiday season by taking part in their 13th annual "Deck the Halls" volunteer service day. Every year the student-athletes volunteer an afternoon of their time to help decorate Mother Margaret Hall, the nursing home attached to the Motherhouse for Christmas.
Friday, December 8th more than 30 Lions baseball players flooded into Mother Margaret Hall to help get the residents into the Christmas spirit. The Lions helped to put up and decorate 15 Christmas trees, as well as decorate many other areas of the building.
When asked about the service day junior second baseman Simon Schaefer (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) said, "The service day is a great day for our team to just come together and help the residents of Mother Margaret Hall. The Mother House and the Sisters of Charity do so much for the Mount Community, and support all of us at the University. That makes our service day that much more meaningful as a team. All of the staff are super friendly and very appreciative of our help with the decorations. The whole experience really helps to bring us together as a team."
