The College of Mount St. Joseph has capped the 2013 softball season with three players named to All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference teams. They are: senior first baseman/pitcher Kim McElhinny (Crestwood, KY/Oldham County), sophomore shortstop/outfielder Mallory Wright (Germantown, OH/Valley View), and sophomore outfielder/shortstop Paige Norton (Cincinnati, OH/Reading).
McElhinny was named Second Team All-HCAC. She batted .338 on the season, with 27 hits, eight RBI and eight runs scored, along with a team-high seven walks. McElhinny also added two pitching wins and tossed 61 1/3 innings in 2013.
Wright, who ended the season on a 10-game hitting streak, was also a Second Team All-HCAC honoree. She led the Mount in batting average (.357), runs scored (17), hits (35) and stolen bases (13).
Norton was selected Honorable Mention All-Conference. In her first season with the Lions, she played in and started 31 games, batted .347, with 34 hits (second on the team), 10 runs scored, and 13 RBI.
The end-of-the-year conference awards are the first such for each player.
