The Lions ended the 2013 season early Tuesday night at Anderson University, falling 9-6 and 10-2 (five innings) to the Ravens in doubleheader action. The Mount finishes the season with a 6-26 overall record, and a 3-13 mark in the HCAC.
Anderson posted a seven-run, second inning in the first game, rolling out to an impressive lead, and led 9-2 after five innings, before the Lions fought back to press the Ravens for the lead. Megan James (Villa Hills, KY/Dixie Heights) singled in a run in the sixth inning, and the Lions added three more runs in the seventh inning, but dropped the three-run decision. Kim McElhinny (Crestwood, KY/Oldham County) led the offense with three hits, while Taylor McElhinny (Crestwood, KY/Oldham County) added two hits. James chipped in two RBI. Taylor McElhinny tossed a complete game for the Mount. The Lions stranded eight runners on base.
The Ravens scored early again in game two, plating four first inning runs to grab a 4-1 advantage. Mallory Wright (Germantown, OH/Valley View) collected a second inning RBI single for the Mount, cutting the deficit to 4-2, but the Lions would get no closer. Anderson scored two runs in the third inning, one run in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning, while holding the Mount's offense to two, 1-2-3 innings over that span, en route to the run-rule shortened game two win. Wright paced the team's eight-hit attack with three hits, while Megan Erdman (Ft. Mitchell, KY/Dixie Heights) and Ashley Moore (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) added two hits each. Kim McElhinny pitched a complete game for the Lions. The Ravens finished second in the HCAC regular season standings this season.
