Jon Bennett returns for his third season in 2011-2012 as the head coach of the Mount’s men’s and women’s volleyball programs. Bennett, who was hired in February, 2009, was the Lions’ women’s assistant volleyball coach (2001-2004). He led the Mount's women's team to a 22-11 overall mark last season, and an 8-1 (tied for the top record) in the HCAC. The Lions, won the HCAC Tournament in 2010 thanks to posting wins over Bluffton University and Transylvania University, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Bennett returned to the Mount from Miami University Middletown where he served as head coach of the women’s team last season. He led the Thunder Hawks to the Ohio Regional Campus Championship and an 11-6 record, as they won their last seven matches of the season.
Bennett has over 20 years of coaching experience in both men’s and women’s volleyball programs at many levels. He was the assistant women’s coach at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (2005-2007), and is currently the head coach of the 15 Regional Team of the Borderline Volleyball Club in Oxford. Bennett was the Miami University-Middletown women’s head volleyball coach (1998-2000) and a head coach for Cincy Classics and Lineshot Junior Olympic Volleyball (1992-2002).
The Lions head coach has also been employed as a substitute teacher by the Hamilton City School District. He graduated in 2001 from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in health education and a minor in coaching. The Forest Park High School alum, who is a USA Volleyball IMPACT Instructor, is CAP Level I and II accredited and has achieved ASEP Level 1 and ASEP Master Level accreditations. Bennett is also a member of the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association.
He resides in Forest Park, Ohio, with his wife, Kymn, and daughter, Alexis. Bennett also has another daughter, Andrea.
