Art Faura returns to the Lions’ Men's volleyball coaching staff in 2011-12 for his third season as an assistant. Prior to coming to the Mount he was the Director of Facilities at Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, a position he held for nearly 17 years.
Faura brings a wealth of volleyball experience to the Mount. He was the interim Head Women’s Coach at NCAA Division I University of North Carolina-Asheville, coached the Men’s club team at Frostburg State University and has coached high school girls’ volleyball in North Carolina, Maryland and Ohio (at Ross and Hamilton High Schools).
The Lions’ first-year assistant coach also has been on the USAV All-Tournament selection committee (1994-2007), including seven years as Chair of that committee, on the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Board of Directors (1999-2001), and a Tournament director for the Ohio Valley Region of the USAV.
In addition he is ACEP coaching certified, USAC Impact coaching certified, USAV-CAP level II and PAVO (Professional Association of Volleyball Officials) National collegiate certification level.
He attended Miami (FL) Dade Community College, gaining an associate degree, and the University of Florida, where he has a Bachelor of Science degree with honors, in addition to one-year post graduate work.
