Ryan Lengerich will be in charge of the Lions' men's volleyball team for his first season during the 2013-2014 school year. The former local volleyball standout had a successful collegiate and club coaching career around the country.

As the first assistant for the California State University at Monterey Bay (CSUMB) women’s volleyball team during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Lengerich helped lead the team to a school-record for wins in 2010, and he helped train the school’s first ever All-American. He played an integral role in recruiting, video breakdown, administration, scouting and game planning.

He becomes the third head coach for the College’s men’s program, which was founded in 2009-2010.

“The Mount is a special place with top-tier academics and a clear mission of community service,” Lengerich said. “I am humbled to have the chance to lead the men’s volleyball program, and look forward to the opportunity to build a championship-level team in a region where men’s volleyball has exploded in talent and popularity over the last decade.”

The Cincinnati native has coached girls’ club volleyball throughout the country for the past eight years, and was named the 2010 Florida Region Coach of the Year among all U-15 and U-16 coaches. In 2012 his team finished 35^th at the USAV National Championships in the 18-under division.

As a player, Lengerich led the 1999 Elder High School team to its first volleyball state championship and earned All-State and Southwest Ohio Player of the Year honors. He continued his playing career as an outside hitter for the Indiana University men’s club volleyball team, which spent much his senior season ranked No. 1 by NIRSA, the governing body for collegiate club volleyball. While living in Florida, Lengerich competed in beach volleyball tournaments around the state.

Lengerich holds a CAP 1 indoor certification, and beach and indoor IMPACT certifications from USA Volleyball.

The Mount competes in the NCAA Division III Continental Volleyball Conference, among the most competitive volleyball conferences in the country. The CVC will add three members for the 2013-2014 season, bringing the total to 13.

"The CVC is loaded with great talent and exceptional coaches, and men’s volleyball continues to grow at the college level,” Lengerich said. “Every great player wants to compete against the best competition, and student-athletes at the Mount have that chance.”

Lengerich earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and minor in political science from Indiana University in 2003. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Black Hills State University. He spent eight years as a government and investigative reporter at newspapers around the country.

He and wife, Marisa, have a six-month-old son, Kaden.

Bennett coached the men's team from 2010 through the first 15 matches of the 2012 season. Faura took over the team mid-way through the 2012 season. The Mount did not field a team for the 2013 season.
