Wednesday, June 11, 2014

A Continental Volleyball Conference record-high of 67 student-athletes were named to the 2014 Academic All-Conference team earlier this week. Ten schools placed a player on the team, in which a student-athlete had to maintain a grade-point average of 3.3 or above.

The College of Mount St. Joseph was well-represented on the this season's team, placing four players. They are:

Toby Birnbrich, freshman, middle blocker

Alec King, sophomore, outside hitter

Josh Schneider, freshman, outside hitter

Alex Vohland, freshman, outside hitter

“The Mount men’s volleyball program had two outstanding academic semesters this past year and I’m very proud of all the players, and of these four student-athletes who took their performance in the classroom to another level," Lions' Head Coach Ryan Lengerich said.

This year's total nearly doubled last year's team of 39 student-athletes.
