Christian Ales, a 5-foot -11 outside hitter, from Bolingbrook, IL (near Chicago) will attend the College in the fall and play volleyball for the Lions, Mount Head Coach Ryan Lengerich announced today.

Ales is a captain at Bolingbrook High School where he plays for Head Coach Andrea Bercot.

“Chris is a thoughtful and interesting student-athlete who asked not only a lot of questions, but a lot of good questions when he visited,” Head Coach Ryan Lengerich said. “It’s obvious Chris is the type of person who thinks everything through and does his research. On the court he is equally bright and gifted as a player.”

Ales played this past year for the Elite Volleyball Academy in Chicago under Head Coach Jackie Worbel.

“Because of his athleticism and ability to explode off the ground Chris can play a lot of positions and has a pretty savvy passing touch as well,’’ Lengerich said. “He’s aggressive and enthusiastic and I know he will bring that same energy to the Mount.”

As a junior in 2013, Ales was an All-SWSC player, Department B of Athletics All-Area Award winner, and was named 2013 Bolingbrook Men’s Most Valuable Player.

He joins Zack Storc and Mooch Randolph, both of Columbus, Ohio, Nathan Herdeman of Cincinnati, Jason Renneker of Liberty Township, Ohio and Adam Williams of Chicago as new members on next year’s team.

Ales is an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He intends to major in biology and eventually study physical therapy.

Chris is the son of Catherine and Anthony Ales.
