Toby Birnbrich, a 6-foot-5 middle hitter from Columbus, Ohio, will compete for the Lions’ Men’s Volleyball Team for the 2013-2014 season, Mount Head Coach Ryan Lengerich announced today.

Birnbrich graduated from Boulder Creek High School in his hometown of Anthem, Arizona, in 2007 where he was an All-Region and Honorable Mention All-State player, and played in the North/South All Star game. He went on to compete at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona before choosing to pursue work opportunities in Columbus.

“In addition to being an outstanding player, Toby brings maturity and leadership at a time when the Mount men’s volleyball program is laying the foundation for success,”  Lengerich said. “He has seen what it takes to survive and thrive in the business world, and he will bring that work ethic to the team.”

Birnbrich intends to pursue a degree in accounting and business management.

“Toby is a very outgoing person who brings a fun, West Coast flavor to the team,” Lengerich added. “However, when he takes the court he is focused and has ambitious goals.”

Toby is the son of Pamela and Axel Birnbrich.
