Men's Track finishes sixth at Wittenberg Tiger Invitational

The College of Mount St. Joseph men’s track team earned a sixth place finish at the Wittenberg Tiger Invitational over the weekend. The Lions scored 42 points over 19 events. The meet champion was Tiffin with 173, followed by Otterbein at 122, and host Wittenberg at 111.

Leading the charge for the Lions was Micquelle Burton (Cincinnati, Oh/Deer Park) who finished first in the 100 meter dash. Burton was the only participant to finish the race in less than 11 seconds coming in at 10.95. Burton claimed another first place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 22.08. Sam Barth (Ft. Thomas, KY/Newport Central Catholic) also had a strong showing for the Lions with a second place finish in the 800 meter run. Barth finished less than a second off the first place finisher in a time of 1:59.52.

Sean Brooks (Englewood, OH/Northmont) claimed a pair of sixth place finished in throwing events. In the discus Brooks had a best throw of 38.67 meters, while in hammer throw his best attempt settled at 41.59 meters.

The Lions return to the track next weekend where they will split the squad and participate in the University of Cumberlands Invitational and the All-Ohio Championships.
