Men's Track and Field Places Ninth at HCAC Indoor Championships

The College of Mount St. Joseph track and field team finished ninth at the HCAC Indoor Championships held at Anderson University. The Lions earned 18 points on the day. Rose-Hulman earned the HCAC Championship title with 200.50 points. Franklin finished in second with 113, followed by host Anderson with 85.50.

Micquelle Burton (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park) earned all 18 points for the Lions. Burton finished first in the 400 meter dash, defeating his competition by over a second, running a 49.84 in the final. Burton came close to a second first place finish in the 200 meter dash. Burton finished the 200 meters in 22.51 seconds, .03 behind the winner.

The 4x400 relay team of Burton, Samuel Fowler (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest), Sam Barth (Fort Thomas, KY/Newport Central Catholic), and Sean Fisher (Ross, OH/Ross) finished in ninth place with a time of 3:39.03.

The Likns will return to action on March 1 at Anderson University for their final indoor meet. The outdoor season will begin Saturday, March 22 when the Lions participate in the Muskingum University Invitational.
