Lions' men's track & field team places seventh at the HCAC Championships

The Lions traveled to Manchester, Indiana on Frdiay to compete in the two-day HCAC championships. The Lions placed seventh, recording 44 total points. The HCAC champion was Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with 202 points, followed by Franklin College with 142points, and Defiance College with 121 points.

Micquelle Burton (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park) was a stand out again for the Lions. Burton, the new 200-meter HCAC champion, ran a 22.11 in the preliminaries, and then followed that up with a 22.03 in the finals to win by .03 seconds. Burton also had a big day in the 400 meters, just missing out on another first place finish. Burton ran a 50.39 in the preliminaries to record the number one qualifying postion, and followed that up with a 49.39, good for a second place finish.

Gabe Stiver (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) continued his streak of good performances in the shot put. Stiver recorded a fourth place finish for the Lions with a throw of 14.06 meters. Sean Brooks (Englewood, OH/Northmont) registered his best distance of the season in the discus throw. His throw of 40.57 meters was good enough to earn him fourth place in the conference. Continuing the strong performaces in the throwing events, Michael Kidder (Kings Mills, OH/Kings) recorded another fourth place finish in the hammer throw with a throw of 49.27 meters.

The Lions will next compete at the North Central College Last Chance Meet on May 16-17.
