Lions' mens' track & field team places seventh at the Hanover Invitational

The Lions traveled to Hanover College on Saturday to compete in the Hanover Track & Field Invitational. The Mount recorded 40 points, good enough for seventh place. The meet champion was Wabash College with 234 points, followed by HCAC-foes Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, with 142.33 points, and Manchester College, with 67.5.

For the Lions, Micquelle Burton (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park) was the star on the day. In the 100 meters, Burton placed first finishing with a time of 11.19 seconds. In the 200 meters, Burton repeated his first place performance by running the event in 22.34 seconds. Burton was also the anchor leg on the 4x200-meter relay. He teamed with Antonio Poellnitz (Cincinnati, OH/Winton Woods), Charles McCall (Miami, FL/Miami Norland), and Darnell Dunson (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne), as the Lions placed fourth in a time of 44.07 seconds.

In the high jump, Ray Claytor (Cincinnati, OH/La Salle) placed third, clearing a height of 1.97 meters. The Lions had two athletes place in the shot put. With a throw of 13.42 meters, Michael Kidder (Kings Mill, OH/Kings) finished fifth, while teammate Gabe Stiver (Cincinnati, OH/Moller) finished right behind him in sixth place, with a throw of 13.03 meters.

The Lions will return to action on April 6 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to comepte in the Ohio Wesleyan University Marv Frye Invitational.
