Sunday, February 17, 2013 On Saturday, the Lions traveled to Defiance, Ohio to compete in the HCAC Championships. The Mount placed eighth tallying 18 points. The top three team finishers were Rose-Hulman (206.50), Franklin (118), and host Defiance (113.5). This is the last indoor meet for the Lions as a team this season, but individuals will still have the ability to qualify for nationals at next week's Last Chance Meet. For the Lions, Ray Claytor (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) was the top individual finisher. Claytor placed second in the high jump with a jump of exactly 2.00 meters. Micquelle Burton (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park) placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.18 meters. Freshman Gabe Stiver (Cincinnati, OH) had a good first showing at the conference championships, placing fourth in the shot put. His throw of 13.73 meters was a season-best mark for him. If any member of the team does well enough to qualify at Tiffin University on March 2, then they will move on to the NCAA Division III Nationals, March 8-9 in Napierville, Illinois.
