Lions men's track & field team places fourth at the AU Indoor Invitational

On Saturday the Lions traveled to Anderson, Indiana to compete in the AU Invitatonal. The Mount placed fourth (75 points) behind Wheaton (144.50 points), Anderson (118 points), and Manchester (112 points). There were 18 total events scored at the meet. 

Four Lions' athletes, Antonio Poellnitz (Cincinnati, OH/Winton Woods), Josh Harness (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas), Joey Veneziano (Cincinnati, OH/Loveland), and Micquelle Burton (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park), competed for the Lions in the 4x200-meter relay. They earned the Mount eight points with a second place finish, registering a time of 1:38.88.

Burton also ran in the 400 meter dash, turning in a time of 50.32, good for first place and 10 points. Colin Brown (Malvern, OH/Malvern) ran the 60 meter dash for the Lions in a time of 7.26, earning a second placed finish and eight points. Both Brown and Burton also competed in the 200 meter dash. Burton placed first with a time of 22.91, while Brown finished tied for third with a time of 23.92. The two combined to earn the Lions 15 points in this event.

Casey Gilmour (Dillsboro, IN/South Dearborn) placed fifth in the 60 meter hurdles. Gilmour's time of 9.85 received two points. Two Lions placed in the Shot Put event - Gabe Stiver (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) placed second with a throw of 13.47 meters while teammate Michael Kidder (Kings Mill, OH/Kings Mill) finished right behind his teammate in third place, earning six points with a throw of 12.97 meters. Kidder also placed second in the weight throw, earning the Lions eight points with a throw of 13.92 meters. Ray Claytor (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) earned the Lions another 10 points by placing first in the High Jump, where he cleared 1.98 meters. 

The Lions will return to action next Saturday, February 9 at the DePauw University Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana.
