Men's Track & Field places fifth at the Otterbein University Invitational

On Saturday the Lions traveled to Westerville, OH to compete in the Otterbein Invitational. The men placed 5th with 51 points. The champion was the home team Otterbein who scored 174.50 points followed by Wilmington College with 137 points.

For the Lions Micquelle Burton (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park) placed 6th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.40, after running a 7.22 in the preliminary round. Burton aslo ran in the 200 and 400 hundred and placed first in both. In the 200 he ran 22.90 after running a 22.26 in the preliminaries. He also ran a 49.55 in the preliminary round of the 400, and was the champion with a 52.15 in the final, which was good enough to win by over a full second. Burton finally competed in the long jump, where he placed third by jumping 6.56 meters in the final round. 

Ray Claytor (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) placed first in the high jump where he was the only participant that jumped over 2.01 meters on his first attempt. Gabe Stiver (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) and Michael Kidder (Kings Mill, OH/Kings) placed sixth and eighth respectively in the shot put with throws of 12.80 and 12.76 meters in the final. Kidder also placed second in the weight throw with a throw of 14.90 meters in the final round.

The Lions will return to action next Saturday at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Inviational.
