Sunday, December 09, 2012 On Saturday, the Lions competed at the Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. There were 10 teams in the meet including the team champion Ohio Dominican, Muskingum, and Otterbein. The Lions finished sixth overall with 39 points, while the winner Ohio Dominican recorded 169 points. Junior Miquelle Burton (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park) finished tied for fourth in the 60 meter dash. He ran the race in a time of 7.13 seconds, finishing only 0.1 seconds behind the winner. Burton also ran in the 200 meter race and recorded 10 points as the champion, finishing the race in 22.54 seconds. Junior Ray Claytor (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) took first place in the high jump. Claytor earned the Lions 10 points by jumping 1.98 meters in the finals. Freshman Gabe Stiver (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) earned the Lions five points in the shot put with a throw of 12.84 meters. Another Lions' student-athlete, Senior Michael Kidder (Kings Mill, OH/Kings), also earned 10 points as champion of the weight throw, with a throw of 14.89 meters in the final. The Lions will be off over a month before they will return to the track January 19 at the Otterbein University Invitational in Westerville, Ohio.
