Justin Ray returns for his second season as the head coach of the Lions’ men’s tennis program in 2012-13. Ray, a 2008 graduate of Christian Brothers University (Memphis, TN), was on a full athletic scholarship, on CBU’s Dean List (Fall 2005-2007), and was awarded the Certificate of Presidential Recognition while an undergrad. Ray also holds a master’s degree in science and leadership development from Wright State University.
Ray led the Lions to an 8-6 overall record in his first campaign as head coach of the men’s tennis team, including a 4-5 conference record, good for a sixth place tie in the conference standings. The 2011-12 season was the first winning season in program history, and the most conference wins the Mount has recorded since joining the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Under Ray’s leadership, the Lions improved both their singles and doubles winning percentages by nearly .100 points in just one season. The Mount recorded a singles win percentage of .512 and a doubles win percentage of .619 in Ray’s first season as head coach, compared to the team’s .411 (singles) and .511 (doubles) winning percentages the season prior.
Coach Ray resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.
