Host Defiance College got a solid performance from their singles players on Saturday afternoon, winning five of six matches, en route to a 7-2 win over the Mount. The Lions, 5-9 overall, 0-7 this spring, will complete 2014 play on April 28 with a match at Transylvania University.

Mount first singles player William Knoll (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin) produced the Lions only singles victory on the day against the Yellow Jackets, posting a 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles. The Lions other win came at third singles when Drew Royalty (Ashland, KY/Paul G. Blazer) and teammate Destin Lewis (Union, OH/Northmont) combined at third doubles to record an 8-6 win over their opponents. Lewis also played well at sixth singles, falling in a third set tie-breaker. Knoll and Ian Rowe (Winchester, KY/George Rogers Clark) fell 9-7 at first doubles.

Defiance improved to 5-3 in the HCAC.
