Franklin College scored three goals in a span of less than two minutes early in the first half, and held the Lions off the scoreboard until late in the game on Saturday evening en route to a 5-1 win at the Mount. The Lions, 2-11 overall, 1-2 in the HCAC, will be back conference action on Oct. 16 at Rose-Hulman. The Engineers are HCAC co-leaders with a 3-0 record, and are 6-4-2 overall.
The Grizzlies grabbed a 3-0 lead by the seventh minute of the game against the Lions, and scored the first two goals in the second half, to forge ahead 5-0. The Mount's Shayne Bateman (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) got his team on the scoreboard at 87:44 of the game when he scored an unassisted goal. Franklin narrowly edged the Mount in shots, 14-13, and the Lions had an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal for the game. The Mount also had an 8-2 lead in corner kicks.
