Freshman Brandon Burns (Hamilton, OH/Ross) scored the game-winning goal, off a pass from teammate Tyler Schumann (Cincinnati, OH/Elder), with 1:08 remaining in overtime to give the Mount a 2-1 home win over HCAC-foe Bluffton University. The Lions, 2-10 overall, 1-1 in the conference, return to action on Oct. 12 when they host Franklin College.

Bluffton netted the first goal of the game in the 66th minute of the game, but saw the Lions tie the game with just 53 seconds left in regulation when Zach Kuebler (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Darby) tossed a throw-in near the 20-yard line into the box, which was mishandled by Bluffton and led to an own goal for the Mount, knotting the score at one-all. Burns' goal was his second of the season.

The Mount had a 24-11 advantage in shots, including 8-5 in shots on goal. The Lions also had an 8-4 edge in corner kicks over the Beavers. Austin Cagle (Independence, KY/Simon Kenton) recorded the win in goal, coming off the bench to play the final 62:25 of the game, registering four saves.
