Visiting Wittenberg University jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 24 minutes of action on Wednesday evening, en route to a 4-1 victory over the Mount. The Lions, 1-6 overall, will return to acion on Sept. 20 at Asbury University (2-3).

The Tigers would stretch their lead to 3-0, scoring in the 61st minute of play, before the Lions broke through with a goal. Jake Butler (Cincinnati, OH/Bishop Fenwick) recorded an unassisted goal at 64:02, to cut the deficit to 3-1, but the Mount would get no closer, as the the Tigers answered that with a goal of their own with just under 16 minutes remaining in the game. Jonathan Hurley (Lexington, KY/Paul Lawrence Dunbar) and Austin Cagle (Independence, KY/Simon Kenton) split the goal keeping duties, with each playing a half and recording two saves apiece.

The Mount held a 14-13 edge in shots, and a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Wittenberg had a 12-6 edge in corner kicks in the game.
