Visiting Spalding University withstood a strong offensive attack by the Lions in the first half, and posted four first-half goals of their own, as they collected a 4-0 win against the Mount on Wednesday evening. The Lions, 1-4 on the season, will return to action on Sept. 14 at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (5-1-1).

The Mount had 11 shots in the first half against the Eagles, but could not break through while the visitors were making their shots count, scoring the first goal of the game in the 29th minute of play. They added three more goals in the first half and clamped down on the Lions' offense in the final 45 minutes of action to post the shutout. The Mount held the advantage in shots, 12-10, and shots on goal, 7-4. They also had eight corner kicks to Spalding's three corner kicks.
