Lions' men's soccer team comes up short with a 4-3 double OT loss at Manchester College

Manchester College scored the go-ahead goal with 34 seconds remaining in the second overtime as they posted a 4-3 win at home over the Lions on Saturday. The Mount, 2-10-1 overall, 0-4 in the HCAC, will be back in action on Oct. 16 in a conference match-up at Hanover College.

Michael Petitgout (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin) got the Mount on the scoreboard first when he scored just 3:54 into the game. Nicholas Siko (Avon, OH/Avon Lake) gave the Mount a 2-1 lead in the first half, and would add his second goal of the game in the second half, to 3-2 lead before the Spartans knotted the game at three-gall with a score at 65:00. Austin Cagle (Independence, KY/Simon Kenton) started for the Mount in goal, and played the entire game, collecting 13 saves.

Manchester College out-shot the Lions, 33-13, including 17-10 in shots on goal. The Spartans also held a 14-4 advantage in corner kicks.
