Transylvania University rolled out to a 7-1 halftime lead and held off a furious Mount second half comeback attempt as they posted a 11-7 home win over the Lions on Wednesday evening. The Mount, 1-7 overall, gets back into MWC play on Mar. 23 when they host Augustana College. The Lions are 0-2 in the conference.

The Pioneers scored the game first seven goals, and held a 7-0 lead with just 28 seconds left in the second quarter. The Lions got a goal from Cory Wojciechowski (Las Vegas, NV/Community College East) just eight seconds later to break into the scoring column and close the first half scoring. Transy forged ahead 9-2 with just over eight minutes to play in the third quarter before the Lions started on their comeback attempt. The Mount scored the game's next five goals, with three coming from Andrew Stoffer (Palatine, IL/Palatine), cutting the deficit to 9-7 with 7:03 to play on the fourth quarter clock. The Lions would not get any closer as the Pioneers would add to their lead at 5:37 and finish the scoring with 20 seconds left in the game, while holding the Mount scoreless down the stretch.

The Mount won 14-of-22 faceoffs in the game, but were out-shot by their opponents, 41-21, including 24-13 in shots on goal. Stoffer paced the offense with three goals and two assists while four other Mount players had a goal each. Mike Weil (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) had 13 saves in goal.
