The College of Mount St. Joseph men's lacrosse team traveled to Granville, Ohio to open their season with a match against the 15th-ranked Denison Big Red. The Lions started slow, falling behind 23-0 at half. The Lions managed to get on the board in the fourth quarter for a final score of 29-1, after being outshot 73-12.
The lone goal scorer for Mount St. Joseph was Junior Drew Stoffer (Palatine, IL/Palatine), who scored with 10:47 left in the game. Pat McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madiera) led the lions in shots (6), shots on goal (2), and ground balls (4). Freshman Mike Weil (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) began the second half in goal, allowing only six goals, while recording eight saves.
The Lions will look to notch their first win in their home opener Wednesday. The Lions will open play at Schuler Field against Ohio Wesleyan University at 7 P.M.
