Host Carthage College, the second place team in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference, led by an 8-0 score at the half and did not allow a Mount goal until the third quarter en route to an 21-3 win on Sunday afternoon.  The Lions slip to 8-7 overall, 5-3 in the MLC, while Carthage improves to 12-2, 6-0. The Mount have the fourth-best record in the conference, and are in fifth place. The loss ends a four-game Lions' winning streak.

Carthage out-shot the Lions, 27-16 in the first half, and did not allow the Mount on the scoreboard until 7:16 showing on the third quarter clock when Peter Thompson (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) scored on an assist from Andrew Stoffer (Palatine, IL/Palatine). Ryan Gallagher (Chicago, IL/St. Rita) netted the Lions next score, with 13:38 in the fourth quarter, making the score 14-2 while Will McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira) finished the scoring for the Mount with just over three minutes left in the game, making the score 19-3.

The Mount had just four shots in goal in the second half, as they were out-shot 52-31 in the game, including 39-13 in shots on goal. Carthage was four-for-four on the power play in the game.
