Visting Otterbein University bolted out to an 8-0 lead on Wedneday night, and held off a strong Mount second half charge as they upended the Lions, 12-6. The Mount, 2-3 on the season, will resume action on March 20 when they host Transylvania University.

The Cardinals got four goals in the first quarter, and added three more goals in the second quarter, as they took a 7-0 halftime lead into the locker room.  halftime. After an early third period Otterbein goal upped the score to 8-0, the Mount got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Will McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira) scored on an unassisted goal with 10:44 on the clock. Otterbein would go ahead 9-1, but three Mount unanswered goals in the third quarter, including the last one by McClanahan with 2:54 to play, cut the deficit to 9-4. The Cardinals, however, would out-score the Mount, 3-2 in the final quarter en route to the win.

The Mount held the advantage in shots in the game, 33-28, including holding a 23-14 edge in the final two quarters. Otterbein, however, led the way in shots on goal, 21-20. McClanahan tallied four goals in the game, and added an assist to pace the offense. Ryan Gallagher (Chicago, IL/St. Rita) and teammate Patrick McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira) also added goals. Joe Illencik (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) played all 60 minutes in goal for the Lions, recording nine saves.
