Sunday, March 10, 2013 The Lions traveled to Lisle, Illinois on Saturday for their first conference game, taking on MLC-foe Benedictine University. The Lions dominated the first half, leading 6-1 at halftime and cruised in the second half, finishing with a 10-4 win. Joe Illencik (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) played all 60 minutes in goal making seven saves, and earning the win. The win propels the Lions tno 2-2 on the season, 1-0 in the conference. The Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter. Will McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira) scored the first two goals for the Lions, followed by a goal by brother Patrick McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira). Both McClanahan's finished with three goals for the Lions on the day. Ryan Gallagher (Chicago, IL/St. Rita) added two goals for the Mount while Patrick McClanahan and Gallagher both added an assist for the Lions. The Mount outshot Benedictine, 40-16, including a 26-11 edge in shots on goal. The Lions will return to action Wednesday, March 16 at home against Otterbein Universtiy in non-conference action.
