Three Lions' golfers have been named to the Division III PING All-Great Lakes Region team for their play this season. They are Phillip Gilmore (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington), Eric Hensler (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield), and Matt Stiens (Cincinnati, OH/La Salle). The awards were presented by the GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America), and given to players in Division III across six regions.
Gilmore, a senior, played in 15 rounds during the spring season for the Mount, and averaged a 78.1 per 18 holes. He shot a low round score of 70 this season and won the Nye Intercollegiate in Wooster, OH. Hensler, a sophomore, played 13 rounds this past spring and led the Mount with a 76.1, 18-hole average. He was named All-HCAC this season after placing in a fifth place tie at the HCAC Championships. Stiens, a senior, played 15 rounds in the spring of 2014 and had an 18-hole average of 78. He won the MSJ Invitational on March 23.
Hensler averaged 75.47 strokes per 18 holes (over 17 rounds) during the 2013-2014 season, while Stiens averaged 76.88 (over 25 rounds) and Gilmore averaged 77.35 (over 17 rounds) during the past fall and spring campaigns.
