Men's Golf Places Third at Mount Union Fall Inviational

Four Mount St. Joseph golfers placed in the top 20 at the Mount Union Fall Invitaional to help the Lions finish third with a total score of 38-over par, 606. The Lions fired a 20-over par 300 for their third consecutibe top three finish this fall. John Carroll Univeristy finished 23-over par (591) to win the tournament, while host University Of Mount Union finished second 27-over par (595). The Medalist was Alex DiPalma of John Carroll University who was the lone player to finish under par at two-under.

Leading the way for the Lions was a pair of seniors in Tom Witterstatter (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) and Matt Stiens (Cincinnati, OH/La Salle). Witterstatter finished in a tie for fourth place shooting a 6-over par, 148. Stiens finished in tenth place firing a nine-over par, 151. Both Lions shot 73 in the final round, three-over par. 

Two other Lions finished in the top 20 for the tournament. Stephen Beamer (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira) finished in a tie for eleventh place turning in a 10-over par, 152. Danny Gravett (Cincinnati, OH/SPCA) rounded out the Lion performers in the top twenty, finishing in a tie for 19th place. He finished the tournament 13-over par, shooting a 155. 

The Lions will return to action at the Depauw University Invitational in two weekends. The team will travel to Danville, Indiana October 12th and 13th.
