Lions' men's golf team places second at the MSJ Invitational

The College of Mount St. Joseph Invitational was held on Saturday, March 23 with the Lions holding a second place team standing after the first round (18 holes). The second round was cancelled on Sunday, March 24 due to inclement weather, giving the team title to Centre College (298). The Mount, which shot a 313 team score, will be back in action on April 5-6 at the 36-hole Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational.

Matt Stiens (Cincinnati, OH/La Salle) led the Mount individuals with a tie for fourth place, shooting a 76. Three other Lions' golfers tied for 10th individually, Eric Hensler (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield), Tom Witterstaetter (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), and Tyler Marton (Springfield, OH/Northwestern), each finishing with a 78.

Thirteen golfers in all for the Mount competed. There were 13 teams in action, with 92 golfers. Davenport University (314), Franklin College (322) and Ohio Wesleyan University (325) rounded out the top five in the team results.
