Lions Cross Country finishes season at the NCAA Regional

The College of Mount St. Joseph men’s cross country team competed in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional on November 16th. The Lions finished the meet in 35th place held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Wabash claimed the title followed closely by Calvin and HCAC-rival Manchester. The individual champion was Paul Lewis of Albion, who finished the eight kilometer course in a time of 25:10.0.

The meet marked the final competition for three Lion seniors; Chris Klaine (North Bend, OH/Taylor), Jonathan Mathis (Cincinnati, OH/Roger Bacon), and Sean Wiwi (West Harrison, IN/Franklin County).

Leading the way for the Lions was Klaine with a 225th place finish in a time of 30:40.9. Following closely behind him was Mathis in a time of 32:06.6. Wiwi concluded his career by finishing the 8,000 meter race in 37:31.5.
