Lions' men's cross country squad takes to the course at the UK Bluegrass Invitational

The College of Mount St. Joseph men's cross country team was in action on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, KY, competing in the UK Bluegrass Invitational. The Lions placed eighth in the team standings, out of nine schools, in a 8K race dominated by NCAA Division I schools. Only one other D3 school, Transylvania University, competed, turning in a ninth place finish.

The Mount had six runners race at the Invitational, with Chris Klaine (North Bend, OH/Taylor) leading the way. Klaine turned in a finish of 51st, with a time of 31:18.08. Alex Griffin (Cleves, OH/Taylor) was 52nd at 32:18.70 while teammate Jonathan Mathis (Cincinnati, OH/Roger Bacon) was 53rd with a time of 33:03.66.

The Lions return to the course on Sept. 20 at the National Catholic Championships at the University of Notre Dame.
