Mount cross country teams add four newcomers for fall action

The College of Mount St. Joseph men’s and women’s cross country teams will welcome four, first-year members to the program this fall. They are: freshman Bret Dwenger (Sunman, IN/East Central), sophomore Josh Harness (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas), sophomore Kelli Foglesong (Aurora, IN/South Dearborn), and sophomore Jacqui Tackett (West Chester, OH/Lakota East).

Dwenger, who ran cross country during his last seasons in high school, also was on his school’s track & field team and expects to compete in both this season at the Mount. He was an All-Conference award winner in track & field, and was on the team’s 4 x 800m relay conference and sectional championship team. In addition, he helped his high school cross country team his senior season to the East Central Invite Team Championship, the Conference Team Championship, and the Sectional Team Championship. Dwenger was on his school’s Honor Roll, in the Japanese Club, and won a Math Award (sophomore year). Bret, the son of Mitzi and Joe Dwenger, is planning to major in Accounting.

Harness, who was on the Lions’ track & field team last season, won Second Team All-GCL honors in 2010 and First Team All-League honors in 2011 while in high school. Last year at the Mount, Harness was a Dean’s List member as well as a Campus Ambassador. Josh, the son of Mariana and Edward Harness, is majoring in Sport Management.

Foglesong was Knight Scholar Award winner in high school for grades 9th through 11. She was also her class Salutatorian as a senior, and an Orientation Leader. Foglesong ran cross country her last three years in high school for Head Coach Brad Fentress. Kelli, the daughter of Robin and Jeff Foglesong, is planning on majoring in Nursing.

Tackett played on the Lions’ lacrosse team last spring, seeing five games of action in goal and also minutes also as a field player. While in high school, she also played ice hockey, lacrosse and ran track & field. Tackett competed in cross country while in junior high school. Jacqui, the daughter of Lori and Alan Tackett, is majoring in English.
