The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Coaches' Preseason men's basketball poll has been released and the Mount has been chosen to finish fourth this season. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, which earned the outright title last season in the conference, was chosen for the top spot, garnering hree, first-place votes, and 87 points, narrowly out-distancing runner-up Hanover College (four, first-place votes, 86 points).
They were followed in the poll by Defiance College (two, first-place votes, 78 points), the Mount (64 points), and Transylvania University (one, first-place vote, 62 points). Franklin College, Bluffton University, Manchester University, Anderson University and Earlham College round out the poll.
The following Mount players were selected as "Players to Watch" for the 2013-2014 season:

David Mann (Sr., G, 6-5, Fairfield, OH/Cincinnati Christian)
Andy Countryman (Jr., G, 6-2, Peebles, OH/Peebles)
Ken Kunkel (Jr., F, 6-6, Cincinnati, OH/Colerain)
Travis Combs (So., G, 6-2, Manchester, OH/Manchester)
