Lions’ men’s basketball players Joel Scudder and David Mann receive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors

College of Mount St. Joseph freshman guard Joel Scudder (Greendale, IN/South Dearborn) has been named the HCAC Freshman of the Year and teammate David Mann (Fairfield, OH/Cincinnati Christian) joins Scudder as an Honorable Mention All-HCAC selection this season.

Scudder, a guard, led the Mount in points per game (14.0), and three-pointers made (68); and was second in assists (44), as he started all 26 of the team’s games this season. Scudder had a season-high 28 points in a win over Manchester University.

Mann, a junior forward, was second in points per game (12.0), second in three-pointers made (44), and first in free throw percentage (86 percent) for the Lions. He had the Mount’s highest scoring game of the season, firing in 31 points against Franklin & Marshall College. He also made 26 starts in 2012-2013. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference last season.
