Monday, December 17, 2012 College of Mount St. Joseph sophomore guard Joel Scudder (Greendale, IN/South Dearborn), who averaged 24.0 points and set the school’s single-game record for three-point field goals made last week, has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Player of the Week. The sophomore scored a game-high 22 points in MSJ’s 70-53 loss at Wilmington, connecting on seven of his 14 shots from the field. Scudder followed that performance with a career-high 26 points in a 60-48 win at Manchester Saturday, connecting on a school-record eight-of-15 from behind the arc. For the week, the sophomore was 16-for-30 (53.3%) from the field and 11-for-23 (47.8%) from three-point range. The Mount (5-3, 4-0 HCAC) will face Franklin & Marshall and Wooster at the Don Lane Classic in Lexington this week.
