Joel Scudder (Greendale, IN/South Dearborn) fired in a Mount single-game record eight three-pointers, scoring a game-high 26 points, and the Lions stayed unbeaten in HCAC play when they recorded a 60-48 today at Manchester University. The Mount, 5-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference and tied with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, returns to the court on Dec. 18 when they take on Franklin & Marshall College in the Transylvania University Don Lane Classic.

Scudder got the scoring started in the game for the Mount on a three-pointer and the Lions jumped out to a 12-3 lead after a layup by Jacob Daniels (Peebles, OH/Peebles). Manchester bounced back to knot the score at 12-all at the 11:50 mark of the first half, and led 15-12 just 43 seconds later. Scudder tied the game at 15-all with another three-pointer just 9:20 into the game before Manchester went on a late run to grab a 29-25 advantage at the half. Scudder led the first half charge with 12 points while the Lions connected on five, three-point shots in the opening half.

The lead bounced back-and-forth early in the second quarter, before Scudder drilled another long range shot with 7:44 to give the Lions a commanding double-digit lead at 50-39. During that run, the Lions received scoring contributions from many different players. The Lions led by as many as 14 points in the game, the last with 3:02 left in the game.

The Lions connected on 56 percent from the field in the second half, and hit 13-of-18 free throws in the final 20 minutes of play to pull away for the win. Scudder finished with 26 points, on eight-of-15 shooting from three-point range (and nine-of-16 shooting overall). David Mann (Fairfield, OH/Cincinnati Christian) chipped in 12 points while Ken Kunkel (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) added a game-high nine rebounds. The Mount won the rebounding battle, 33-30.
