College of Mount St. Joseph running back James Clay (Louisville, KY/duPont Manual), who had a record breaking day for the Lions in a 41-20 win over Anderson Saturday night, has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on offense for the second time this fall.  The Lions' senior also was named as a Beyond Sports Network NCAA Division III Offensive Player of the Week. In addition, Clay was also named OhioCollegeFootball.com Division III Co-Offensive Player of the Week. This is the second time Clay has been named OCF Offensive Player of the Week.

The senior set a MSJ and HCAC single-game rushing record with 342 yards, eclipsing the old HCAC mark of 296 yards set three previous times.  Clay’s four touchdowns (41, 58, 14, 75 yards) tied a MSJ single-game record that was set in 2003. For the day, Clay totaled 405 all-purpose yards, including 342 on the ground, 14 kickoff return yards, and 49 punt return yards. This season, the senior tailback has 1,205 rushing yards (leads all NCAA divisions) and 12 touchdowns.

The Mount (2-2, 1-2 HCAC ) will welcome conference leader Franklin to Cincinnati Saturday afternoon.
