Lions' baseball players selected for post-season HCAC honors

Mount senior pitcher Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) and junior outfielder Ronald Cotton (Florence, KY/Boone County) have been named Second Team All-HCAC by the conference's 10 head coaches.

Shaw had a team-best 2.47 earned run average this season and was 2-4 overall. He appeared in 10 games, nine starts, and in 51 innings had a team-high 53 strikeouts and a save. Cotton batted .319 with a team-leading six home runs and 32 RBI, in his first season for the team. He added 27 runs scored, 36 hits and 11 stolen bases, playing in 33 games, including 31 as a starter.

Four Lions' players were named Honorable Mention All-Conference. They are: Taylor Alley (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), Nick Browning (Fairfield, OH/Hamilton Badin), Michael Leytze (Cincinnati, OH/La Salle) and Rob Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West). Alley, a sophomore catcher, hit .357 this season for the Mount, while Browning, a freshman outfielder, batted .291 and had a team-high 44 hits. Leytze, a junior outfielder, batted .302 and had 21 RBI and Rob Shaw, a senior first baseman, had 19 RBI and 15 walks.

Leytze was also an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection in 2012.
