Visiting Ohio Northern University pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of six Mount errors on Wednesday evening, as they recorded a 9-2 win oer the Lions on Senior Night. The Mount slips to 12-22-1 overall with the loss and will complete the 2014 regular season on May 3 when they play the first of a three-game HCAC series at Hanover College.

The Lions recognized the following seniors before the game against the Polar Bears: Matt Lakamp (North Bend, OH/Taylor) Drew Ernst (Cincinnati, OH/Elder), Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West), Rob Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West), and Alex Cole (Ross, OH/Ross).

ONU led by a 3-0 score heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Lions got on the scoreboard thanks to an RBI single by Rob Shaw, plating Tyler Haubner (Cincinnati, OH/La Salle). The Polar Bears then pushed their lead out to 6-1 by the seventh, when the Lions cut the deficit to 6-2 when Kyle Vennemeier (Harrison, OH/Harrison) scored teammate Drew Werner (Sunman, IN/East Central) on an RBI groundout. That was all the scoring the Lions would do on the night against two ONU pitchers, as the Polar Bears scored three more runs in the final two innings.

Ernst started for the Mount, and threw two innings, giving up two hits and a run while taking the loss to fall to 0-2 on the season. The Lions used eight pitchers in the game. Four different players had one hit each for the Mount. Werner had a double in the game.
